Taylor and Tripp’s story started thanks to a little friendly matchmaking. A mutual friend suggested they should connect, so on April 23rd, 2023, Tripp reached out to Taylor on Instagram with a simple, straight-to-the-point message: “Hi! Can I take you to Arrington Vineyard? That’s all. Nice to meet you.” At that exact time, Taylor happened to be reading Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey, a book about saying yes to new opportunities, and she decided to do just that.
The first date was….interesting. While picking up Taylor, Tripp could not find the front door. Taylor had to walk around the block to find him. No, Tripp did not open the door for her. Not a great start! For the remainder of the date, Taylor talked. She talked a lot. Tripp didn’t have many opportunities to talk, and failed with the door yet again when he when he dropped her off. Overall, Tripp failed the first impression. Thankfully, somehow, Taylor agreed to a second date. The second date was a success: Dinner, a movie, and surprise sunflowers on the drive home.
What started with weekly date nights quickly turned into to flowers left at the doorstep before work, surprise notes on the car windshield, sketchy Facebook marketplace purchases, hibachi nights, and getting engagement in the creek (we do not recommend walking barefoot in a creek)!
After countless memories, adventures, and laughs, Taylor and Tripp are beyond excited to begin their next chapter as husband and wife. They can’t wait to celebrate their wedding surrounded by the people who have supported and loved them along the way. What started with an Instagram message and a not-so-smooth first date has turned into the best decision they ever made. Now they’re ready to say “I do” (hopefully with better door etiquette this time).
